Description
Flor de Caña has a rich history, with the origins of the brand being traced back to 1890, when Alfredo Francisco Pellas Cañasa, a young man from Genoa, Italy, decided to travel to Nicaragua and build a distillery in Chichigalpa at the foot of the active volcano San Cristobal. This unique environment imparts different characteristics to the sugar cane, contributing to the rum's flavor profile. The tropical climate, with a balance between rainfall and sunny weather, provides optimal conditions for growing sugar cane. The volcanic minerals in the fertile soil, combined with the slow aging process, play a crucial role in creating the soft and nuanced flavor that distinguishes Flor de Caña. It is the only brand of rum in the world that has permission to carry the designation “Slow Aged”, which describes the natural, unaccelerated aging process. Premium 135 liter bourbon barrels are used, sealed with dried local plantain leaves. It is a rum that does not contain sugar, caramel, gluten, artificial ingredients and enhancers. First in the transition to the ultra-premium category, it is distilled with a continuous multi-column method, according to the Spanish tradition, up to 5 times, with 100% renewable energy. All stages of the production process have been controlled by the same family since 1890. This is called "5-star authenticity".
