The brand's name arose in 1875. Its balanced, aromatic blend, made with leaves from Vuelta Abajo area, in Pinar del Rio region, makes Romeo y Julieta the classic medium strength flavour Habano. It is highly-regarded internationally and has one of the most extensive ranges of Habanos vitolas.
Winston Churchill was one of the brand's most devoted smokers. Since his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has been used on some bands and the brand's best-known vitola was named after him: Churchills of Romeo y Julieta.
In 2006, Habanos, S.A. launched the younger brother of this iconic vitola: Short Churchills, the Romeo y Julieta Robustos. Two new vitolas were launched by this famous brand in 2010, Wide Churchills and Julieta.
Churchills is a legendary name in the world of Habanos. Since Winston Churchill's visit to Cuba in 1946, numerous elements in the brand's bands refl ected his love of Habanos. First it was the Churchills, then the Short Churchills and, in 2010, it launched Wide Churchills, a heavy ring gauge Habano specially designed for smokers who enjoy Habanos with excellent burn and balanced aroma.
In 2012, the brand presented 2 new products. A new vitola, Petit Churchills, ideal for those who are looking for a Habano with aromatic and balanced flavour that can be enjoyed in a short space of time, and the new product Reserva of the Romeo y Julieta brand, with the Churchills Reserva Cosecha 2008 vitola, elaborated with tobacco from Vuelta Abajo area, in Pinar del Rio region, aged for a minimum of three years.
The Romeo y Julieta Gran Reserva Cosecha 2009 and Romeo y Julieta Piramides Anejados, was presented in 2015. In 2017 the brand presented the Romeo y Julieta Petit Royales and, in 2018, the Romeo y Julieta Tacos Limited edition was launched.
Last year was presented Maravillas 8, by Romeo y Julieta, the vitola selected by Habanos, S.A. to commemorate the spring festival of the Chinese lunar year in 2020.
