The Symington family has been present in the Douro Valley for 130 years. Fourteen generations of the family have been involved in winemaking. They are the leading producers in the Douro Valley with 1,006 hectares of vineyards.
All of the Symington family vineyards are managed according to the principles of integrated production and organic viticulture. They use intercropping (crops planted between the rows of vines), which has the following advantages: natural pest control, temperature regulation, soil and erosion control.
