Château Roubine is one of the oldest wine estates in Provence, with a history dating back over 700 years. It has stood the test of time and has preserved its winemaking traditions over the centuries.
In ancient times, the so-called Julian Roman Road crossed the current vineyard. Known since the early 14th century, Château Roubine was owned by the Order of the Templars before being ceded in 1307 to the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. In 1955, Château Roubine was one of the 23 wine estates recognized by decree as a “Cru Classé” of the Côte de Provence. The Templiers’ coat of arms traces the history of the estate: the Dragon, animal symbol of Draguignan, and the Lion, animal symbol of Lorgues, protected by the rays of the Provençal sun.
The vineyards of Château Roubine are surrounded by a ring of pine and oak trees, located in one piece in the heart of the Var between the Verdon and the Mediterranean and are home to a wide variety of thirteen grape varieties. Due to its ideal east/west orientation, the cellar has the conditions for the production of high-quality organic wines through its clay-limestone soil. Today, it extends over 130 hectares, including 72 hectares of vines. Château Roubine is known for its commitment to sustainable viticulture. The estate follows organic and biodynamic practices in its vineyards, respecting the environment and promoting biodiversity.
