Description

Dog Point is one of the oldest privately owned vineyards in Marlborough, with first plantings in the late 1970s. Ivan and Margaret Sutherland were among the first in the Marlborough wine industry to plant grapes in Marlborough. Working at Cloudy Bay Vineyards, Ivan met James Healy, where the pair played an integral part in the evolution of the Cloudy Bay brand. Finding that they shared the same aspirations, Ivan and Margaret and James and Wendy moved towards a more natural approach, launching the Dog Point label in 2004 and using fruit from the 2002 harvest.

Dog Point Vineyard owns and operates the largest organically certified Biogro vineyard in New Zealand. Since 2009, Dog Point has been converting to organic viticulture. One of the initiatives they follow as part of their organic regime is to turn pruning and winery waste into mulch, creating a healthy organic compost to fertilize all the plantings on the property.

Dog Point Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most respected white wines from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. It is distinguished by its freshness, minerality and complexity, which make it different from the typical “tropical” styles of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
