Savinelli's story begins in 1876, when Achille Savinelli Sr. opened one of the world's first shops dedicated to smoking products in the very center of Milan. The small shop, still in its original location today, turns into a meeting place where passionate smokers exchange experiences and opinions. It was there that Achille the Elder began designing pipes. In January 1890, Achille Savinelli's son, Carlo, took over and ran the shop for over 50 years. Thanks to his innate psychological instincts, he manages to develop reliable relationships with clients, satisfying their personal requirements. In 1918, Achille Junior was born. As a young man, Achille began his specialization in pipe making in the small workshop at the back of the shop. While his parents tend to the needs of customers, he prefers to stay behind, working, designing and inventing. It was in this workshop that the first real Savinelli pipe appeared. However, the specter of war looms large, and when World War II breaks out, Achille the Younger is forced to interrupt his apprenticeship and serve five years of military service. When he returned from the war, he realized that commercialization alone was not enough, so he decided to leave his father's shop and start making his own pipes. This is an important decision for the young Achille, ready to continue and improve the Savinelli family tradition. His decision was based on one fact - that the best-selling pipes in Italy at that time were made abroad, while Italy grew the best quality briar. In 1948 he opened the Savinelli workshop and the pipes produced there quickly began to gain prestige and became an emblem of the highest standard worldwide. Now at the helm of the company, Giancarlo brings new energy and new ideas to Savinelli. A great-grandson of the original founder, he successfully tackled the delicate task of modernizing the company, caring for this hand-crafted heritage and passing it on to his son Achille.
